I started school on the 27th of August. It’s my last semester in cosmetology… I’ve been working my ass off to get done as fast as I can. October 4th is the day I reach the require 1,550 hours of training for the state of Minnesota. I really need to work on getting services done though — that is, styles, manicures, perms, etc. That will be the tough part, getting all of those done in record time. In addition to my cosmetology license, I’m working towards my Associate’s in Applied Science in Cosmetology. This semester, I’m taking Biology of Women as a fulfillment for the Minnesota college degree system thing. It’s really tough to explain Anyways, that means I’ll just have 10 credits in spring semester to finish up, then I graduate college in May!

Work has been just as crazy. Since my last update, they’ve had me working 30-40 hours a week, which is about double to what I’m used to. (I’m a part time employee at a local Joann Fabrics.) Now that I’ve started school again, they’ve cut it back, but now I’m starting school at 8 and then working until 8 after school I’ve been so crunched for time I haven’t been able to get much homework or studying done for my classes, which is not good. I know I’m not the only struggling college student out there: what’s your experience like with being a student and working? Or how was your experience? Share with me, I want to know I’m not the only one working like crazy

It’s time for me to call it a night — my left eye has started it’s nightly twitching, indicating I need to go to sleep (another thing I don’t have time for). I’ll be posting again soon! Just as another reminder, check your emails!

Hey everyone! Are you ready for something exciting!? In this post, I’m introducing a multitude of new things. We’ll start with the pictures above: galaxy shoes! I made these for about 20 dollars, picking up a few supplies from the craft store and the shoes from Target.

 

Certainly, you can make them yourself, and that is my full intention with this post. First, I plan to write up a tutorial on how to make these shoes. I didn’t document it the first time I made them, so that’s why I need to buy another pair of shoes. Second, I don’t need two pairs of galaxy shoes. Sooo, I’m doing a giveaway on the second pair! Not only will I take pictures as I make the shoes, I’ll write up the tutorial on them. I do realize there is already tutorials available to make them, but I still wanted to take a stab at it. Maybe this giveaway won’t work at all — nothing is stopping you from buying the stuff yourself and making them. Except, of course, you can get them for free!

Here’s a link to the shoes I bought. I fit very nicely into a size 8, and yet these are a bit big. The 7′s were way too snug though Keep that in mind when you enter the giveaway. If you’re still interested in entering, the rules are below!

That should be all we need I’m excited to see how this plays out! At the moment, I do have a few more resources (patterns, textures) in process, but I’ve been working so much more than I’m used to — 30 hours a week at least. Not only that, but I start school on Monday the 27th. I probably won’t be able to do a bit update until the first week of September when I get back in the swing of things. For the past month, I’ve been taking an Intercultural Communication summer course at the college I attend. Tomorrow will be the last class, and I’m so glad to be done with it. Surprisingly, it was a lot more fun and a lot easier than what I was expecting. One thing the teacher had us do was interview someone who was culturally different from us — this would be age, nationality, profession, etc. I met up with a coworker of mine, who is 59, for lunch to do my interview. We had so much fun enjoying the food and talking! So much, in fact, we decided we’ll get together again, and invite other coworkers with us. I was really surprised with how much we were able to talk about. Have you ever been surprised by how much you connected with someone different from you?

My aunt emailed me a few days ago, letting me know she had an HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Multifunction Printer‏ that she didn’t use. She offered to let me take it off her hands for free, so of course I did! The printer I have now (another HP All-in-one model) works terribly with my laptop. Anytime I want to use it, I have to reinstall the printer and drivers. I just don’t have that kind of time! I was planning on buying a Canon all-in-one printer, but we’ll see how this other HP ones works for me. It has very mixed reviews, but it was free. Do you have a printer? What brand, and how does it work for you?

Right now, while I’m blogging and waiting for my laundry to finish, I’m using Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Advanced Seal, 2 Hour Express. Just for fun… I don’t usually pay attention to my teeth because they’re white already I’ve had them on for an hour now and my teeth are hurting Has anyone else used white strips and had pain in your teeth? I’m sure this happens, but I wasn’t expecting it.
